EVENTS
Gathering of Tribes aims to provide free community events that foster meaningful connections and faith-promoting experiences for Indigenous Latter-day Saints, their families, and friends. Every event is planned by our executive team alongside local Indigenous committee members with the approval and support of leadership from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Since 2022, Gathering of Tribe events have been approved by area authorities of the Church and held in Calgary, Alberta, Canada (September 2022); Mesa, Arizona, USA (March 2023); South Jordan, Utah, USA (August 2023); and Cardston, Alberta, Canada (September 2023). Gatherings are two-day events that include specific elements chosen to deepen connection to Jesus Christ while respecting Indigenous identity, such as temple worship, wearing of cultural clothing, traditional music and dancing, invited speakers, inspired workshops, testimony sharing, and a concluding fireside. These events are created by and for faithful Indigenous members, but all are welcome to participate.
