Who are Indigenous peoples?
Indigenous peoples are culturally distinct ethnic groups whose members are directly descended from the earliest known inhabitants of a particular geographic region.
Among the indigenous peoples are First Nations, Inuit and Métis of Canada, Native American tribes of the USA, the Mayas in Guatemala, Samoans, Tongans, Niueans, Cook Islands Māori, Tahitian Mā'ohi, Hawaiian Māoli, Marquesans, Māori of New Zealand and many more.
